From the huge dunes of Sossusvlei to the game rich salt pans of Etosha National park and the wild Skeleton Coast, Namibia is our of our favourite destinations for adventurous families. Namibia can be surprisingly good value, is relatively safe and stable and offers a fantastically balanced holiday to please all members of the family.
We tend to recommend Namibia for slightly older families, with kids 8 or older, it is also perfect for adventurous families with teenagers.
We are an ABTA & ATOL bonded tour operator specialising in family holidays and we know Namibia inside out. Our team have travelled extensively in Namibia and camped out in the Namib with our own kids.

We had a fantastic trip, LOVE Namibia!
Briefing from Etienne was super when we arrived in Windhoek, car hire, maps etc all sorted, and she booked dinner for us for when we were in Swakopmund.
The driving was an adventure, distances were achievable and all our accommodation very good. I particularly enjoyed Doro Nawas, the lodge was comfortable and friendly, and seeing the desert adapted elephants was a highlight. We climbed Dune 45 in the Namib desert, did the Pangolin experience at Okonjima and enjoyed our trip to the Atlantic coast. Lots of memories made
I think we’ll have to try the South of the country next time, I’d love to see Fish River Gorge.

The most common way to do Namibia is a circular self-drive trip taking in Windhoek, the dunes of Sossusvlei, the wilds of Damaraland and safari in Etosha. It is a fair bit of driving, but that is an adventure in its own right, with stunning scenery and few other cars on the road. You can do it in style with luxury lodges or in the wilds camping.
For any families that like to camp, a roof top camping adventure in Namibia is the ultimate family adventure. Camping in gorgeous camp-sites with stunning sunsets over the bush. 4WDs come equipped with all the camping gear and easy roof top tents which simply fold out.
If you are looking for a second trip to Namibia, we strongly recommend the Caprivi Strip. Known as Botswana on a budget, this narrow strip of land has excellent safari on the banks of the Zambezi and Kwando–Linyandi–Chobe Rivers. And for thsoe with the budget, the Skeleton Coast is absolutely out of this world!
