Overview

Offering one of the best sunset views in the country, overlooking the Etosha pans, The Fort in the Onguma Private Game Reserve is a unique place ideal for those in search of luxury accommodation and an up-close safari perspective on the Namibian wildlife.

Activities revolve solely around the camp’s great location near Etosha National Park. Guests can go on morning and afternoon guided game drives in Etosha, home to Big Five game, a variety of mongoose and wildebeest among others, and endangered species such as the black rhino. Birdwatching is also good here, with over 340 species of bird such as flamingo, Bare-cheeked babbler, and eagles commonly sighted. There are opportunities for guests to participate in Onguma sunset drives as well as interpretive bush walks.

Guest accommodation consists of 11 Bush Suites and one Honeymoon Suite, as well as a Sultan Suite in the main complex. All rooms offer brilliant views of the Fishers’ Pan waterhole and Etosha pans. The Bush suites feature fireplaces and en-suite facilities including inside and outside showers, as does the Honeymoon Suite. The Honeymoon suite also has an outside luxury bath, whereas the Sultan Suite has an inside bath. Whilst the Moroccan-Afro design of the rooms evokes a colonial-era feel, free Wi-Fi is available in all the rooms. There is a communal pool located outside in the main complex.

No children under the age of 7 are allowed at The Fort, and there are no specific children’s activities here. No children under the age of 10 years are permitted on game drives, and no children under the age of 16 years are allowed to attend bush walks. This an ideal safari spot for couples in the intimate heart of the Namibian wilderness.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
