Selous Game Reserve in Southern Tanzania is the largest game park in Africa, covering a vast 55,000km² of riverine wilderness. Enjoy game drives, river boat cruises and guided walks in search of herds of Elephant, buffalo, rare wild dog and lion.
Ruaha National Park in a unique transitional zone between Eastern and Southern biomes, home to sable and roan antelope, dik dik, greater and lesser kudus, Grants gazelle and honey badgers. This is a premier birding destination and large numbers of elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, impala, eland, hippo, crocodile, wild dog, lion and leopard.
Ras Kutani is only 25 kilometres from the capital Dar es Salaam on a lovely unspoilt stretch of Indian Ocean coast line and backing onto a fresh water lagoon and tropical coastal forest. This down to earth spot is a perfect place to relax and unwind after a hectic safari schedule.

Day Notes: Make your way to the Dar es Salaam domestic terminal for scheduled light aircraft flight of about 45 minutes to the Selous Game Reserve. Afternoon game activity and dinner at the lodge
DAY 2: SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Day Notes: Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, four times the size of the Serengeti. This 55,000km² riverine wilderness reserve is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a superb host for extraordinary array of vegetation, birdlife and wildlife. There is over 2,100 species of plants, about 400 varieties of birds, more than half of Tanzania’s elephant population, over 120,000 buffalos, 40,000 hippo, the planet’s largest population of rare wild dog and 4,000 lion in a vast unspoilt setting.
DAY 3: SELOUS GAME RESERVE

Day Notes: Your day starts with a leisurely breakfast and then depart on your morning activity. Return to the camp for lunch and afternoon at leisure. Meet late afternoon for tea and afternoon activity. Return to camp for drinks around the camp fire and dinner. Guided walks will however leave at dawn to avoid the heat of the day and make the most of the morning light.
DAY 4: DEPART FOR RUAHA GAME RESERVE

Day Notes: Scheduled light aircraft flight of about 1h45 to the Ruaha Reserve, arriving in time for lunch and afternoon activity.
DAY 5: RUAHA GAME RESERVE

Day Notes: The isolated, unspoilt Ruaha National Park, is in fact the largest National Park in Tanzania. What makes this park unique is the transitional zone between Eastern and Southern biomes which gives you the opportunity to see rare and shy sable and roan antelope, dik dik, greater and lesser kudus, Grants gazelle and honey badgers. A premier birding destination, with half of all of Tanzania bird population resident in this park. In addition to elephant and buffalo in great herds, giraffe, zebra, impala, eland, hippo, crocodile, wild dog, lion and leopard.
DAY 6: RUAHA GAME RESERVE

Day Notes: The Ruaha daily activities run much the same as the Selous with morning and afternoon game activities. The guided game walk will also leave at dawn to make the most of the cool of the day and light.
DAY 7: TRAVEL TO TANZANIA COAST

Day Notes: Morning activity and breakfast in camp. Late morning light aircraft flight of 1h40 to Dar es Salaam, on arrival you will be met the onward light aircraft flight direct to the coastal lodge

Day Notes: The emphases at Ras Kutani is a quiet spot to relax after a hectic safari schedule. Relaxing around the pool or on the beach or enjoying a well deserved spa treatment. There are some other charming activities to enjoy. Take some snorkelling gear and explore The Chyko, a 1900's cargo vessel or the local coral reefs.
Kayaks to explore the fresh water lagoon and riverine forest. Boogie boards, beach volley ball and boules/petanque are available.
Explore the coast forest behind the lodge on foot which has three species of primates.

It is best to avoid the long rains around June. During this period it tends to rain through the night and into the morning. It is usually possible to get a dry spell between 10am and 2pm for getting out on safari. The short rains bring some rain during November, but this is less of an impediment. December to March can be very hot.
