Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport you will be met by our representative and assisted with your scheduled flight to Manyara Airstrip. Spend two nights at Lake Manyara Tree Lodge. Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, emergency medical evacuation insurance, laundry and daily lodge activities.Lake Manyara National Park offers a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley soda lake to dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Apart from a spectacular setting, the park is famous for its unusual tree-climbing lions and the vast elephant herds it was established to protect. The shores of the lake, encrusted with pink flamingo, attract more than 400 species of birds, many of them waterfowl or migrants. Large herds of buffalo, cheetah, Masai giraffe and impala roam the lake shores and the forested valley slopes. A Lake Manyara safari is a fascinating experience as the park also features a ground-water forest; acacia tortilis woodland and hot springs called Maji Moto.

DAY 3: DRIVE TO NGORONGORO CRATER

Your stay includes three meals daily, soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas and coffees, scheduled safari activities, refreshments on game drives and laundry. The Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area, within the Serengeti, is home to more than 30 000 protected animals. It is an area of spectacular beauty and excellent game viewing, a truly unique safari destination in Africa. The Ngorongoro Crater, once a gigantic volcano, is the largest intact caldera in the world. Some maintain that before it erupted, it would have been higher than Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Today, long since having collapsed and eroded, it is an extensive highland area with the famous 600 metre deep Ngorongoro Crater as its focal point. Nearly three million years old, the ancient caldera shelters one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on earth. Fresh springs and a large soda lake quench the thirst of all the inhabitants. Black rhino are protected within its rim, giant tusked elephants wander the forests, black-maned lions stalk the grasslands, and flamingos crowd the soda lakes.

The Serengeti National Park, meaning “endless plains” in the Masai language, is undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated Wilderness areas and is an on-going source of inspiration to writers, filmmakers and photographers. It is Tanzania’s oldest game reserve, renowned for the part it plays in the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million antelope – mostly wildebeest – migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This epic, seasonal journey is a deeply moving experience and a wonderful photographic subject. Here visitors to the park can roam its sprawling plains on exhilarating game drives or hop into a hot-air balloon ride for an once-in-a-lifetime wilderness adventure. The Serengeti National Park is also home to the Olduvai Gorge, where ground-breaking archaeological discoveries have been made, as well as the breath-taking Ngorongoro Crater - a World Heritage Site.

Due to the variability in flight costs, our prices are quoted excluding international flights. We usually arrange flights for most of our clients travelling to Tanzania and have good rates, but if you prefer to book your own or use air miles, we are happy to book ground arrangements and domestic flights for you.
There are no direct flights from the UK or US to Tanzania. Direct flights are available with KLM direct from Amsterdam, Turkish direct from Istanbul, Qatar from Doha, Etihad from Abu Dhabi and Emirates from Dubai. We usually find KLM and Turkish best for North American clients with just one stop in Amsterdam / Istanbul and an overall flight time approaching 22 hours.
Kenya Airways via Nairobi is another good option with direct flights from London Heathrow into Nairobi and a short hop onto Tanzania.Qatar is an excellent option if you are combining a safari with Zanzibar as it has direct flights to/from Kilimanjaro Internatonal Airport and Zanzibar Airport, meaning you can do the outbound and return flight with just one stop to many International destinations.
Quoted price is based on high season rates. Substantial discounts applicable for low season (late May and early December approximately 30% less). Price includes; All scheduled road transfers as per the itinerary, all scheduled air transfers (Kilimanjaro > Manyara > Serengeti > Zanzibar > Dar Es Salaam), Tanzania National park fees / Conservancy fees. Accommodation inclusions as per individual properties (all meals, shared game activities and house drinks throughout)
January, February, July, August, September and October are the dryest months, with the Christmas / New Year period and July / August period representing peak season in Tanzania, expect flight costs to be substantially higher and we advise booking in advance for the best choice of lodges.
We usually avoid the long rains that run through March, April and May. The typical pattern during this period are tropical downpours in the afternoon / evening that usually clear in the mornings. If this is the only time you can travel then it is usually possible to get a dry spell between 10am and 2pm for getting out on safari and of course rates tend to be lower.
The short rains bring some rain during November and early December, but the rains are much lighter and much less of an impediment.
This safari and beach holiday is perfect for honeymooners and diving and wildlife enthusiasts wanting to experience the best of Tanzania. The accommodation used are amongst some of the best in the country.
