Overview

Acorn Guest house is a relaxed, affordable, nicely presented and welcoming guesthouse in a lovely location in the Oranjezicht and Gardens neighbourhood. It is our favoured option for those on a budget in Cape Town.

There are 9 rooms in total. It is important to note that Acorn is a well presented guesthouse rather than a boutique hotel. The overall style is traditional and homely, but certainly not chintzy. One of the best features of Acorn Guesthouse is the swimming pool and garden area – the perfect space to relax after a long flight or day exploring the City. There are pleasant views over the city from some parts of the property.

There is a restaurant / deli on the corner over the road from Acorn otherwise it is only a short 5 minute drive from Kloof Street, which offers a range of relaxed neighbourhood dining options.

From the enticingly presented drinks cabinet to the complimentary Nespresso and relaxed pool area, the overall impression at Acorn Guest House is of a warm welcome designed to make you feel at home.

Families: Acorn Guest House is a fantastic option for responsible families. Children of any age are welcome. There are two family rooms, the suite and the cottage. The suite has a double bed and sofa bed in two rooms plus a small terrace (sleeping up to a family of four with two younger children). The cottage offers more privacy and benefits from a larger terrace. Families larger than four will need to take adjoining rooms. Staff are extremely accommodating if you want to enjoy a take-out meal on the terrace or in the dining room. Acorn Guesthouse is suitable for responsible families, but it is not a family specific accommodation, there is a quiet ambience and the pool is not guarded or fenced off.

In Detail:

- 7 doubles (twin possible), 1 small single, family suite and cottage

- All rooms have en-suite bathrooms with showers over the bath

- Fans & free-standing heaters in rooms (no air-conditioning)

- Outdoor swimming pool (not heated)

- No restaurant or bar – self-service drinks cabinet in the lounge

- Free tea and coffee (nespresso)

- Free wifi

- Parking on street (free of charge)

- Families

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
