Overview

Travellers Guest House is a charming and inviting, good-value property situated on the outskirts of Bulawayo, the second largest city in Zimbabwe. It’s in a great location away from the hustle and bustle of the lively city centre, yet still within reach of many key attractions and amenities.

There are four levels of accommodation to choose from. Basic Rooms are suitable for those on a budget, while Standard Rooms tend to be the most popular option. Suites are available for larger groups and there are designated Family Rooms for parents travelling with children. All rooms offer plenty of space and a range of useful amenities such as a desk and a fan, and an en-suite bathroom with shower. In the larger Suites and Family Rooms, the bathroom also houses a bathtub, and tea and coffee making facilities are provided.

Full English breakfast is served every morning, and a few other options such as healthier alternatives, children’s breakfasts or ‘breakfasts to go’ can be requested. Indoor dining is available, however eating outdoors in the peaceful breakfast garden dotted with plants and flowers makes for a lovely start to the day. While there are plenty of restaurants just a short walk from the hotel, guests can make use of the communal kitchen which offers good cooking facilities along with ample storage space. There’s also an outdoor braai area, where meats and other foods can be grilled over an open fire.

The hotel is just a stone’s throw from some of Bulawayo’s many shops, bars and restaurants. Renowned for its collection of colonial architecture, the city is quite historic in character, though it is fairly young compared with some other cities, having only been established in the 1840s. The Natural History Museum is one of the city’s key attractions and the railway museum is also a popular destination. Scattered throughout the city are a fair few art galleries and theatres that support its thriving cultural scene. Further afield is the expansive Matobo National Park, which is famed for its spectacular granite outcrops and rhino population and other key attractions close to the city are the Kame Ruins, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back to the Iron Age, and an orphanage for sick and injured animals.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
