Overview

Clarendon Fresnaye is a sophisticated guest house tucked away in the idyllic and exclusive Cape Town suburb of Fresnaye. It’s a bright and airy property characterised by beautifully manicured lawns and lush gardens along with modern facilities in a lovely historic setting.

All rooms are air conditioned and come with a minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and complimentary toiletries. There are three grades of room available: Standard Rooms; larger Superior Rooms; and Family Suites. The views vary from room to room: some have ocean views, some look out on to the property’s verdant gardens and crystal-clear swimming pools, while others offer views of the Lions Head mountain on the slopes of which the guest house is located, as well as the iconic, flat-topped Table Mountain.

Parts of the coast are known for being noticeably windy at times, but the property’s location means that it’s relatively wind-free and both pools can be used year-round. Breakfast is served daily in the dining room or, weather permitting, on the lawn. Lunch and dinner are also available on request and barbecues are often held out on the lawn.

Many of Cape Town’s key attractions are within easy reach. The city is known for being diverse and multicultural. It’s also renowned for its spectacular Table Mountain backdrop, the top of which can be reached by cable car. Guests staying at the Clarendon Fresnaye are just 10 minutes from the city centre, where there are scores of restaurants, bars and shops to discover, ranging from well-known international brands, to more locally run establishments. The city’s colourful neighbourhoods are replete with museums, galleries and performing arts venues. While there’s a thriving cultural scene, many also visit for the city’s many water sports offerings: surfing, snorkelling, free diving and kite surfing are especially popular here. Some of the many other activities available in and around the city include wine tasting tours, wildlife spotting expeditions, hiking and mountain climbing.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
