EnquireKapamba Bushcamp is an intimate, upmarket safari camp accommodating just eight guests in four uniquely designed, open-fronted chalets in a secluded southern corner of east Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park. Operating from April to January, the camp boasts excellent guiding and hosting along with stylish, contemporary accommodation in a tranquil setting beside the seasonal Kapamba River. This area offers beautiful scenery, with mopane woodlands and grassy plains framed by the distant Chindeni Hills. Wildlife viewing is excellent, with high numbers of lion, elephant, buffalo, spotted hyena, and hippo, plus good leopard sightings and an occasional glimpse of the elusive wild dog.
Approximately 3½ hours transfer from Mfuwe Airport, the camp’s main building is an open-fronted stone and thatch construction, with airy high ceilings and wonderful river views. Décor is contemporary, featuring vibrantly coloured soft furnishings and Moorish influences. Guest spaces comprise a comfortable lounge and bar area, and a spacious dining area. Outside is a large decked terrace with seating directly overlooking the picturesque river. In keeping with traditional safari style, dining is usually communal, although scenic sundowners and romantic riverside meals are also available. Special diets can be accommodated.
Activities focus on day and night game drives, and guided walks with highly qualified guides. Vehicle traffic in this area is generally very low. Guests should note that the January to March months may see significant rainfall, whilst visitors in October should come prepared for the very high temperatures which coincide with the area’s most prolific wildlife viewing period.
Guest accommodation comprises four well-appointed, spacious stone and thatch chalets. Open- fronted to the river, each chalet features decorative wrought iron screens which are closed at night to prevent wild animals from entering, whilst still allowing views of the stars. Every unit sleeps two guests in either one king size or two twin beds, draped with mosquito nets. Bathrooms are ensuite and also open to the front, with twin basins, flush WC, twin rainfall showers and a double size, deep stone bath which can also be used as a private plunge pool during the warmer months. Outside each chalet is a spacious veranda, ideal for tranquil river gazing. Electrical charging sockets are provided in the chalets, although note that no mobile phone or Wi-Fi connections are available.
Children age 12 years and over are very welcome in camp. Younger guests can be accommodated when the camp is booked for exclusive group use, subject to hiring a private guide and vehicle for the stay’s duration. Note there is a minimum age of 12 years for walking safaris. Kapamba does not offer a specific family unit, or child activity programme, and may be more suited to families with older children. The camp is unfenced and wild animals do roam through, and although it is unlikely that wildlife would approach people or chalets, parents are reminded that children should be supervised at all times.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!
Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.
Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!
All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.
Thanks you once again!
