EnquireVilla Margherita is a charming boutique hotel located in the centre of Swakopmund, western Namibia. The coastal town lies on the edge of Namib-Naukluft National Park and boasts attractive German Colonial architecture.
Though Villa Margherita’s colonial buildings date from 1908, the hotel underwent a complete renovation in 2008. The updated interior décor comprises a stylish blend of traditional features and tastefully chosen contemporary art, and the fireplace and soft furnishings make for a cosy and inviting communal lounge. The gourmet Italian restaurant offers a locally-sourced, organic menu, and there’s a lovely spa facility. Dining is available both indoors and outside in the well-manicured garden, and there are plenty of tasty breakfast options. Bookings for the restaurant and the spa can be made on arrival and throughout the stay, at additional cost. Other facilities include a bar, and 24 hour secure parking.
There are 8 rooms and suites, set out across four buildings. All rooms are spacious and comfortable, and whilst each has its own unique and quirky décor, the general characteristics are warm colours, stone floors, hardwood furniture, cosy furnishings, and tasteful paintings and sculpture. Rooms range from twin, to double, to queen; all are ensuite, and most have their own seating area. Ground floor rooms generally have direct garden access, and those on the first floor include access to a private terrace or small balcony, with views over the garden or out towards the dunes. The more sumptuous Honeymoon suite offers greater privacy, set across the road with its own terrace and large living room complete with laptop, satellite TV, DVD player, and stereo system.
The hotel is situated in the old town of Swakopmund, near to the seaside town's shopping and dining facilities. The town is well-known for its thriving extreme sports scene, and there is no shortage of activities to enjoy, including sky-diving, dune-boarding, and quad biking through the Namib desert. For any guest less partial to adrenaline rushes, gentle hot air balloon rides provide a more relaxed opportunity to enjoy stunning dune scenery. A day trip to the nearby Sandwich Bay is a great option; visitors can explore a lagoon enclosed by spectacular dunes, with opportunities to see springbok and a great variety of birds. All of these activities can be arranged by the excellent and well-informed hotel staff who encourage bookings with companies who support local habitat conservation efforts.
Children and families are very welcome at Villa Margherita, with no age restrictions. Both The King and The Nest suites are well suited to family guests, each with separate queen and twin bedrooms. The King suite also includes a large private lounge area with views of the dunes. The range of outdoor activities on offer provides plenty of exciting entertainment options for children, while the hotel’s flat screen TVs, complimentary WiFi, and laptops available on request are sure to keep them occupied back at base. Whilst parental supervision is generally required at the villa, a babysitting service can be arranged.
Villa Margherita is a delightful property known for the personalised service offered by its attentive and friendly staff. The hotel is ideal for a fairly upmarket and highly enjoyable short stay in Swakopmund during a self-drive safari through Namibia.

Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!
Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.
Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!
All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.
Thanks you once again!
