Overview

Singita Sasakwa Lodge is a deluxe property in a stunning hilltop location overlooking the vast, rolling plains of the Serengeti National Park, Northern Tanzania. Situated within the 350,000 acre privately owned Singita Grumeti Reserve, there’s a dense concentration of wildlife to see including vast herds of wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, cheetah and the famed ‘Big 5’.

From its elevated setting on Sasakwa Hill, the main house blends opulence and comfort in a traditional colonial style, with its spacious veranda boasting unrivalled views of the Serengeti plains below. Extensive communal areas include a large swimming pool, luxury spa, gym with superb views and tennis courts. There’s also a gift shop, library and television room, billiard room, lounge and bar. The cuisine at Sasakwa Lodge is excellent and fine wines are served from the property’s award-winning cellars (private tastings can be arranged).

Activities include daily game drives, guided safari walks, and the private nature of the reserve means that night drives are also possible. Note that the lodge operates communal rather than private safari activities, with guests sharing vehicles. However, private vehicles can be arranged, albeit at additional cost. Sasakwa’s equestrian centre offers horseback safari for experienced riders; archery and badminton are also available and cultural visits to local communities are encouraged.

The accommodation comprises nine private, luxuriously appointed cottages with one, two or three bedrooms, and one four bedroom villa. Every bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with separate bath and shower. All cottages have their own veranda, private infinity pool and lounge area. Facilities are comprehensive and include air conditioning, fans, direct dial telephone, safe and CD player.

Children of all ages are welcome, with a children’s playroom and babysitting service available. For safety reasons, participation of children below 15 years of age in game activities is at the discretion of the guide. There is plenty to keep younger family members busy on site, including swimming, archery, tennis, baking with chefs, guided walks around camp, face painting, and arts and crafts. The Mini Rangers Course teaches children more about their surroundings, introducing them to butterfly identification, animal tracking, flower pressing, astronomy and bush survival techniques.

Singita Sasakwa Lodge’s spectacular setting, excellent facilities and premium service are reflected in its high end prices. However, for those looking for a sophisticated safari experience with luxury and comfort a priority, a stay at Singita Sasakwa Lodge is hard to surpass.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
