Overview

Situated between the beach and the town of vibrant Swakopmund, Cornerstone Guesthouse is a peaceful, family-run boutique B&B. The main guesthouse occupies a quiet corner a short drive from the main facilities of the town, but only a short walk away from downtown restaurants.

Cornerstone has a relaxed atmosphere, combining the intimacy of a family-run establishment with the amenities of a modern hotel. Though simple, the décor of the main areas remains tasteful and contemporary, with a bright breakfast room and small adjoining lounge containing a satellite TV. A continental buffet with made-to-order eggs is served in the morning. The gardens are pleasant and well-tended, and secure parking is available. A mobile phone pre-programmed with out-of-hours contact numbers is provided for peace of mind. The guesthouse also maintains three luxury apartments dotted around Swakopmund: Atlantik Sicht and An Der Mole bordering the ocean, and Moringa Gardens in the centre of town.

The accommodation consists of five double or twin rooms, and two family rooms, each with ensuite bathroom containing a shower, with the exception of room five, which also contains a bath. The rooms are fashioned in a clean and crisp style, with white linen, dark wood, and tasteful soft furnishings. Each contains a satellite TV, mini fridge, coffee and tea station, room safe, WiFi access, and a private patio leading out into the garden. Laundry is available at additional cost.

All three of the afore-mentioned luxury self-catering apartments sleep six over three double rooms, and come complete with spacious open-plan lounge and kitchen areas, two bathrooms, washing and drying facilities, and garages for secure parking. Whilst An Der Mole makes use of its stunning beach-side location with a nautical blue-and-white décor and decking featuring sun loungers, Atlantik Sicht is more modern, with sleek contemporary fixtures. Moringa Gardens is light and modern also, though high exposed wooden-beam ceilings and warm colours make for a cosier feel.

The guesthouse is located near the Marine Museum and Old Brewery, for guests looking to explore some of Swakopmund's more cultural facilities. However, this vibrant town on the Skeleton Coast is better known for its adrenaline sports. The guesthouse owners are able to recommend a variety of activities such as quad biking and dune boarding in the town's huge neighbouring sand dunes. A day trip south to Sandwich harbour is a highlight, where a lovely dune-walled lagoon provides beautiful photography opportunities, and the chance to experience the rich coastal birdlife. Kayaking to seal colonies, taking dolphin and whale cruises, or just relaxing on the beach are also options.

Children are welcome and the main guesthouse has two family rooms, each accommodating four guests, with a double bedroom, and a lounge area containing fold-out beds. Cots are also available, and there are no age restrictions. Each of the luxury self-catering apartments can accommodate families, or larger groups of guests, in comfort and style and there are plenty of activities in the area for all age groups.

Cornerstone Guesthouse provides modern, comfortable, and friendly accommodation in a variety of locations in and around Swakopmund.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
