Overview

Serengeti Migration Camp is a permanent lodge situated among rocky outcrops near the banks of the Grumeti River in the Northern Corridor of the Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. With its location right on the path of the Great Migration, it offers first class game viewing and tasteful luxury in the midst of the vast Serengeti wilderness.

The camp’s main areas have fabulous 360-degree views of the surrounding Ndasiata Hills. There is an open-plan, split-level lounge, a dining room with a large balcony, and a sunset viewing platform complete with camp fire. There is also a large swimming pool available for day-time use.

Activities are centred on the spectacular year-round game viewing in this area with morning, evening or full-day vehicle safaris on offer and the chance to see buffalo, elephant, giraffe, leopards, lions, cheetahs, gazelles and more. While the camp is reasonably small for a permanent lodge and located in a relatively quiet area, it is open to other safari companies and a certain degree of vehicle traffic can be expected. Guided Grumeti River Bush Walks offer a slower-paced nature viewing experience, with the chance to see the resident hippos. As with other camps in this area, night-time game drives and walks are not permitted. Seasonal balloon safaris can be arranged, with prior booking essential.

The accommodation comprises twenty spacious, elevated tents with dark wood and leather furnishings, en-suite bathrooms with double basins, large hot showers, flush toilets and wrap-around verandas offering panoramic views of the surrounding African bush. The tents are located at the bottom of a hill, accessed by stone stairs, so be aware that this property might not be suitable for those less able-bodied. There are askaris (guards) on duty 24 hours a day who will escort you to and from your room at night, power is supplied by a generator and a laundry service is available.

Children of all ages are welcome. While children under 16 years of age are not allowed on safari walks, nature walks for younger children are sometimes available within the confines of the camp. The tents are sizeable and there is space in four of them for a double bed, an extra bed, plus a sofa for a smaller child. Of course, the swimming pool is a big draw for families and a real asset for time spent relaxing between game drives. It’s worth noting that the camp is not fenced and so children must be supervised at all times.

Serengeti Migration Camp belongs to the Elewana Portfolio and offers the perfect compromise between a lodge and a tented camp. It is a picturesque, top-quality property with really good food and service, offering unadulterated luxury in a truly wild location.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
