Overview

Sesriem Campsites is a National Parks facility and the nearest to the famous Sossusvlei Dunes. Here you can set up camp underneath one of the shady camelthorn acacia trees and relax by the pool during the heat of the day. Although the facilities are not as plush as some private campsites in the area, Sesriem does benefit from one of the best locations.

You may like to visit Sesriem Canyon and then walk or drive to Elim dune to watch the sunset, you can climb part of the way up the dune for a really stunning view across the desert. The camp has a small shop for supplies, petrol pumps and a bar.

The twenty four Sesriem campsites are set underneath shady camelthorn trees, close to the swimming pool, restaurant, shop and Park entrance gates. Enjoy the convenience of being at the front of the early morning queue to enter the park and view the magnificent dunes for sunrise! Each campsite accommodates a maximum of eight people.

If you would like to drive yourself into the dunes, you can wake early and drive onwards towards Sossusvlei, around 70km from the Park entrance. The entrance opens at sunrise and this is the best time of day to see the dunes, the opening and closing times will be indicated when you check in at reception. The last section of the road into Sossusvlei is 4x4 area only and you can either leave your vehicle at the car park and proceed either on foot (a beautiful walk), or take the shuttle which usually runs between here and Sossusvlei which is 5km away. The desert can be extremely hot in the middle of the day, so please remember plenty of water, a hat and good walking shoes! Enjoy the amazing scenery of the desert, and maybe take a short walk to Deadvlei, a bizarre collection of ancient camelthorn trees, or climb the nearby dunes. Return to Sesriem and perhaps take a look at Sesriem Canyon before returning to the camp.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
