EnquireLocated in Sabi Sands on the banks of a seasonal tributary of the Sabi River in the Kruger National Park, Nottens is an independent, family-run camp with an honest, uncommercial feel. It is traditionally built and simple by design, with no electric lights or air conditioning in the rooms (although there are fans to cool things down). Instead, candlelight and lanterns create a genuine bush atmosphere. With pleasant public areas and a great pool, this is an excellent lower cost option for those looking to stay in the Sabi Sands area in a camp that gets consistently great feedback. Be aware that the property isn’t directly situated on the Sabi River.
Accommodation is in just eight private suites, each with open plan bedrooms, en suite bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers, and wide verandahs. Windows and doors are fitted with screens and insect coils are provided. Children aged six and over are welcome here, and two family suites are available: a cottage with two en suite bedrooms and a triple room.
The lounge and dining areas overlook a watering hole and vast plain, which guests can enjoy from the wooden decking area. Meals are social events with everyone gathering in the enclosed boma around a log fire in winter or the open plan, candle-lit summerhouse in summer months. The menu is varied, offering traditional flavours, with meat-eaters and vegetarians well catered for.
Activities here centre on vehicle and waking safaris. This is a reliable area for year-round game viewing, and the lodge has traversing rights over 35 sq kilometres. The daily walks and two game drives offer plenty of opportunities for spotting the big five and other wildlife.
Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
