Overview

Kulala Desert Lodge has a prime location in a private 37 000 hectare Kulala Wilderness Reserve with private entrance into the Namib-Naukluft National Park. The vast main area has lounge, bar, dining area, plunge pool, curio shop and wrap around veranda overlooking a well frequented watering hole.

The 23 chalets are wooden frames with canvas walls, thatched roof and slightly raised off the ground to try and cool the rooms. Each chalet has a private roof terrace above the bathroom where you can sleep under the stars in bedrolls. The en-suite has a loo, hand basin and bucket shower in an attempt to conserve water in this arid area. There is a family room with two rooms which share a bathroom and wooden deck.

The guided nature drives and walks from this property are highly recommended. Optional early morning balloon flight is a spectacular way to enjoy sunrise over the dunes, alternatively horse riding or tour of the world’s driest vineyard with wine tasting.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
