Overview

Berjaya Beau Vallon is an expansive, modern beach hotel found in the northwest of Mahe, the Seychelles’ largest and most populated island. What the property may lack in character it makes up for with its fabulous location right on the palm-fringed beach of Beau Vallon – this lovely stretch of sand attracts many a local, as well as the tourists, but while it does tend to get busy, it’s always possible to find a quiet enough spot to relax. The hotel offers extensive facilities and there’s a good deal to see and do in the vicinity.

The accommodation comprises 223 rooms and suites grouped into six categories ranging from the cosy Standard Rooms to the spacious Royal Suite. All rooms are air conditioned and have an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower - there are also bathtubs in all non-Standard Rooms. Rooms and suites come with a good range of amenities such as complimentary toiletries, a minibar and a satellite TV and all of the suites have their own private balcony with views of the resort’s pretty gardens.

The facilities are excellent. There’s a large outdoor pool with plenty of loungers, along with a well-equipped fitness centre, a tennis court and a casino offering American-style roulette, blackjack and Caribbean poker. Beach volleyball’s a popular activity, while deep sea fishing, diving and other water-based activities are also great to participate in. For eating and drinking, there are over half a dozen options ranging from a poolside bar serving refreshing drinks and light snacks, to a casual open-air pizzeria with a tranquil beachside location. There are various restaurants which specialise in different cuisine – for example, one serves Indian cuisine and another focuses on Chinese dishes, and yet another serves a buffet-style range of international foods, with themed buffet dinners throughout the week.

Roughly ninety percent of the Seychelles’ total population live on the island of Mahe, and a third of the island’s inhabitants live in the country’s capital, Victoria, whose centre is only about ten minutes away from Beau Vallon. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle service to the city and back between 9.45am and 5pm. Mahe is very much the country’s hub of industry, commerce, culture and tourism and is home to the international airport. The island is known for its many fine beaches and understated natural beauty and a number of endemic plant species can be spotted, such as the jellyfish tree and many orchid species.

Beau Vallon is regarded as one of the island’s finest beaches. It’s known for its sweeping, pristine sands, crystal-clear waters and excellent opportunities for diving, snorkelling and other water-based activities. It’s quite a family friendly destination, with plenty for people of all ages to see, do and experience. Berjaya Beau Vallon caters well for families and offers a childcare service. Parents are reminded to keep their children under adult supervision at all times.

  • We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!

The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.

I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.

The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.

All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).

    From my seven-year-old son:

I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.

In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever
