Eden Bleu Hotel is a luxurious, high-end hotel in a paradise beach setting on Eden Island, a man-made island created in the 2000s off the east coast of Mahe, the Seychelles’ largest natural island. While the hotel does offer a certain sense of seclusion, it’s only about 10 minutes away by car from the hustle and bustle of the Mahe’s capital city, Victoria. This contemporary and pristine property looks out on to the Eden Island marina and offers spectacular views of Mahe’s towering mountains.
All rooms are handsomely furnished and well presented, with decor that’s clean, modern and sophisticated. There are 89 rooms in total: 76 standard or deluxe rooms, a dozen suites and the grand presidential suite, the hotel’s largest and most expensive accommodation option. All rooms are air conditioned and have an en-suite bathroom with a separate shower and sink area; refreshments and a coffee maker are provided, with other convenient amenities including Wi-Fi, a 42-inch LED TV with satellite channels and a fridge included. Round-the-clock room service is available, there’s an efficient intercom system to facilitate communications with hotel staff and although there are no designated services for children, families are more than welcome.
The emphasis of the hotel’s eateries is very much on local Creole specialties, with meals prepared using locally sourced ingredients such as spices and fruits. Marlin Bleu is a fine dining restaurant that serves an array of dishes that showcase the Seychelles’ many rich flavours; Empereur Terrace, on the other hand, is an outdoor dining area that runs alongside the hotel’s front, enabling guests to take in captivating views while making use of the all-day dining menu. There’s also Bourgeois Bar, which is well known among the locals for its extensive cocktail menu.
Nearby is the Eden Plaza, the country’s very first purpose-built retail centre. There are more than 50 shops here, not to mention a good selection of restaurants, a well-equipped gym with regular classes and a full-service spa. The marina is also within easy reach - boat trips to other islands in the Seychelles can be arranged here; there are also plenty of opportunities for water sports and other water-based activities, from snorkelling and surfing, to scuba diving and fishing. While island hopping is a popular activity, guests are encouraged to visit Mahe and discover its many offerings. Known for its pristine natural beauty, as well as its collection of fine beaches, the island is the country’s centre of tourism. It’s replete with all sorts of attractions that showcase the country’s heritage and culture, such as the National History Museum, the clock tower designed to resemble London’s Big Ben and the tranquil Bel Air Cemetery, the island’s oldest historical structure.
We had such a good holiday. You did a fantastic job!
The house in Marrakesh was ridiculous. We effectively had it to ourselves. The accommodation was borderline palatial.
I actually think that the time we had in Marrakesh was sufficient. We could potentially have done a day by a pool but I think we’d done enough souk-ing by the end of Day Two.
The hotel in the mountains was a shade more rustic than I was expecting, but all great fun. Stunning views. The guide / mule / cook team were excellent and our guide (Hassan) tailored the treks to our capabilities well. He was superb, and really made an effort with the kids. The second and third day of trekking were particularly good. Such an adventure for the kids.
All the logistics worked seamlessly. Every aspect went like clockwork. Top marks. The advice on tipping was also much appreciated (I hate thinking that I’m getting mugged off or am potentially not giving enough…).
From my seven-year-old son:
I thought it was GREAT. The food was amazing and the culture was very interesting. My favourite bit was scrambling up rocks in the Atlas Mountains.
In retrospect, I’d probably do the trip in reverse. Flopping on the roof terrace after the rigours of the mountains would have been even more satisfying.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever
