Overview

Casa Corcovado is a secluded, eco-friendly lodge perched majestically on a hilltop in one of the world’s most biodiverse regions just outside Corcovado National Park on the south-western pacific coast of Costa Rica’s renowned Osa Peninsula. This charming, high-end property boasts amazing views and sits on its own reserve which spans some 170 acres, encompassing an abundance of unspoiled rainforest, a pristine stretch of beach and some fabulous wildlife to boot. The lodge was established some 35 years ago by an American who has since continued work on a number of conservation projects to protect the area’s extremely rich flora and fauna, and there is no doubt that sustainability is top of the agenda here.

There are two different accommodation types to choose from, both recently renovated: Ocean View Forest Bungalows and Rainforest Villas. All suites and bungalows are set amongst lush, unspoiled rainforest greenery and are well spaced out for plenty of privacy. The decor is simple yet stylish, drawing inspiration from the lodge’s natural surroundings.

Packages include all meals, access to hiking trails and a tour of the magnificent Corcovado National Park which veritably teems with wildlife from scarlet macaws to jaguars.

The activities on offer are many and varied and they naturally centre around the national park. Birdwatching walks, horseback riding, hiking trails of varying levels of difficulty, mangrove tours and night-time trips to spot some of the park’s nocturnal wildlife are all possible. There are also activities to enjoy outside of the park such as scuba diving and snorkelling around nearby Caño Island, and chilled out sea kayaking excursions.

Back at base there are two swimming pools: one is solar-powered, while the other is tucked away in the forest and fed by a natural stream. The bar is open-air and is a great spot for socialising or even wildlife spotting, while the lounge has some games and a small library, along with information on the aforementioned sizeable line-up of activities. The restaurant, Los Vitrales, specialises in traditional and local dishes, while Margarita Sunset Point is a well-positioned outdoor lounge area with spectacular ocean views. There’s also a gift shop and a spa with a good range of treatments.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
