EnquireCala Luna is an upmarket, family-run boutique hotel situated on the outskirts of Tamarindo, on the stunning north Pacific coast of Costa Rica. This contemporary property sits just five minutes from a pristine stretch of white sand beach, in a nature-rich area flanked by verdant jungle. The hotel offers 36 sleek rooms and villas, a restaurant, bar, spa, and lovely pool, all nestled within tropical gardens. Cala Luna will appeal to travellers on a higher budget seeking space and relaxation within easy reach of the amenities of Tamarindo, but away from the bustle of town.
Communal areas include a hotel restaurant with a choice of indoor and alfresco seating, and a menu serving international cuisine. Room service and in-room dining are available. There’s a good-sized swimming pool with loungers, and an adjacent lounge bar serving refreshments and light meals. A hotel spa offers a range of beauty treatments and massages, with the option of in-room service. Yoga sessions are held in the tranquil gardens, which receive regular visiting wildlife including howler monkeys and racoons.
Activities include paddle boarding, snorkelling, kayaking and fishing. Adjacent Langosta beach offers white sands and glorious sunset views, however its rocky shoreline is unsuitable for swimming, so water enthusiasts head to nearby Tamarind beach which offers excellent surfing and swimming. Scuba and surfing lessons can be arranged, subject to additional charge. The hotel offers complimentary bike hire, a great way to explore the surrounding area and coastline. On site yoga sessions are held several mornings a week, and private sessions can be arranged. The lively Tamarindo centre, a popular visitor destination with a plethora of eateries, bars, and shops, is a 20 minute walk or short taxi ride from the hotel.
The accommodation comprises 36 contemporary and spacious rooms and villas, with rooms located within the main building and villas spaced out across the grounds. Rooms comprise one king size or two double beds, a comfy lounge area, and a stylish bathroom with twin basins, and either a twin shower or a shower and Jacuzzi bath. Patio doors lead onto a private terrace with garden views. The larger villas each feature a king size bedroom plus a second bedroom with two double beds, two bathrooms, a large dining area and lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen. Outside is a secluded private terrace leading to the beach, plus a private swimming pool. A number of three-bed villas contain an additional twin-bedded room, plus three ensuite bathrooms. All rooms and villas come with air conditioning, room fans, satellite TV, hot drink facilities, and Wi-Fi.
Children of all ages are warmly welcome at Cala Luna. The villas offer generously proportioned accommodation and are perfect for families or larger groups travelling together.

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
