Overview

This is the only accommodation within Bryce Canyon National Park and is in walking distance of some breath-taking views of the canyon. The lodge was designed in the 1920's as park accommodation and retains its rustic, log cabin feel. Despite the rustic nature of the accommodation, you will pay a premium for being in the park.

There are 38 cabins and 75 rooms. The cabins sleep 4 and larger families can rent two inter-connecting cabins for a larger space. Be warned, however, to retain the rustic experience, there is no air con and no tv's. (Although air-con shouldn't be that necessary as Bryce generally a more comfortable temperature.) Each cabin has a bathroom, two queen beds and a small porch area. They are set within pine trees, so children have an outside area to play in.

The rooms are less rustic, with more modern furnishings. They also benefit from having a fridge and microwave. Also with two queen beds, these rooms can sleep up to 5 as rollaway beds are available.

There is a restaurant and a shop at the lodge - no other options are in walking distance. If you want (limited) choice, you will need to drive to Bryce Canyon City, although don't expect a vast independent array, it's fairly standard fare here.

Some families will find the lack of mod-cons refreshing, but the lack of a pool and facilities experienced elsewhere may be an issue for some. On the other hand, it is the only place where you can stay in walking distance of Bryce Canyon's rim.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
