EnquireThis beautifully preserved and well presented hotel is unique among those in Arequipa, Southern Peru. The building was originally a mint house and has been carefully repurposed to function as a full-service hotel, while keeping its many traditional features intact. While it's very much a building of heritage and history, exemplified by its two colonial-style courtyards, there are a fair few modern touches to it as well. Situated behind the fascinating Santa Catalina Convent and just a few blocks from the central Plaza de Armas, it’s very well located for those looking to explore Arequipa.
The hotel has a total of 40 air conditioned rooms that are available in three different categories: Superior, Suite and Senior Suite. All rooms are decorated in a tasteful and pleasant way that pays homage to local traditions. Rooms include a range of convenient amenities such as a mini bar, a kit for making coffee, an LED TV and a desk. Both of the suites come with a king size bed, while the Superior rooms offer either one king size bed or two doubles.
The Alma Restaurant is open daily for three meals. Breakfast is served buffet style, and for lunch and dinner there's an appetising array of local dishes, along with a number international and contemporary options. There’s also a bar out in one of the courtyards and the broad drinks menu covers everything from non-alcoholic beverages, to colourful cocktails, refreshing spirits and more.
There’s an abundance of sights and attractions in Arequipa, with scores of colonial buildings, important monuments, towering churches and fascinating museums to take in. While the city is known for its rich history, it’s also a great hub for outdoor pursuits, thanks in part to the snow-capped volcanoes that lie in the not-so-distant background. Some of the many adventure-based activities include biking, mountaineering and even white water rafting. At the end of a day's adventures, guests can head back to the hotel and relax in the spa which has both a sauna and a jacuzzi, and a tempting list of indulgent treatments on offer.
Children are welcome, and while there aren't any designated facilities or services for youngsters at the hotel, there's plenty for all age groups to do in and around Arequipa.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
