EnquireThe city of Luang Prabang, along with the rest of Laos, only started actively encouraging tourism in the late 1980’s. Since then, the city has grown steadily popular with tourists thanks to its peaceful ambiance and appealing collection of historic buildings. Many hotels and resorts have sprung up around the city over time, and one of the most luxurious and stylish of them is The Apsara Rive Droite. Decidedly chic throughout, it offers plenty of comfort and space. The hotel isn’t actually on the city’s main peninsula, though its sister hotel, The Apsara, is. Guests have access to the hotel’s private boat, the Apsarian Queen, which provides convenient transport across the river to the sister hotel and the city centre beyond. During the dry season, which runs from November to May, a bamboo bridge for pedestrians is constructed to provide access across the river.
There are nine rooms in total, all of them designed to offer more than enough space, along with a good range of amenities. The bathrooms have both a shower and a bathtub, and all rooms have air conditioning, a fan, a minibar and a comfortable king size bed with very soft bedding. Each room has a terrace or veranda with lovely views of the city’s assortment of historical buildings and the surrounding mountains. While the hotel doesn’t offer any babysitting services or child-designated activities, children are welcome.
The restaurant, situated directly across the river at the sister hotel, is open for all-day dining. The menu comprises a variety of freshly prepared local delicacies and national dishes. Back at the Apsara Rive Droite, guests can make use of the swimming pool and catch the daily alms giving procession. Though this procession is smaller than the one held on the peninsula, it’s a lot less touristy with a more authentic feel.
The hotel has a number of bicycles available for guests to use. There’s a cycling bridge nearby which offers quick and easy access to the city centre and its many attractions. Luang Prabang is famed for its many well-preserved heritage buildings and most of the city has been declared a dedicated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Some of the major attractions include the Buddhist temples of Wat Xieng Thong, Wat Hosian Voravihane and Wat Wisunara, as well as Mount Phousi, a centrally located hill offering stunning views of both the city itself and its striking mountainous surroundings.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
