EnquireOnce the royal residence of the last Prince of Laos, Satri House is now a UNESCO heritage site located right in the heart of Luang Prabang. This beautiful, historic residence was tastefully refurbished in 2002, and further expanded in 2008 when 6 colonial-style buildings were added. Scattered with antique objets d’art, the property combines a traditional feel with fresh, contemporary touches and has a relaxed, ‘home from home’ feel. There are two outdoor swimming pools and a bar set in pretty gardens, an inviting spa with jacuzzi, plunge pool and steam room, and a library.
The accommodation comprises 28 rooms plus the majestic Satri Suite which houses 3 rooms once occupied by Prince Souphanouvong himself. The Satri Suite is conveniently located right in front of the main swimming pool and is the centrepiece of the whole residence, combining luxury with cosy creature comforts and boasting more space and greater privacy than other rooms. There are 14 Deluxe Rooms which house large bathrooms with rain showers and separate toilets, air conditioning, fans, mini-bars, telephones and free Wi-Fi connection – most of them have a private balcony or patio. The 14 Junior Suites offer more space than their Deluxe counterparts, and include a large bathroom with a bath and separate walk-in shower.
Satri House’s central Luang Prapang location only adds to its charm. During festive seasons, music can be heard playing in the neighbouring market and bikes are available to hire at the front desk, although note that they can’t be reserved in advance. The town is set against a stunning backdrop of mountains and waterfalls, with the impressive natural surroundings offering up a variety of cycling and hiking adventures. There are also no less than 33 temples, or ‘Wats’, to explore, and early risers can take part in the Alms Giving ceremony in town every morning.
Children are welcome at Satri House. Those under three years of age can share a room with their parents free of charge, but families with older children are obliged to pay an additional age-dependent fee for an extra rollaway bed. Complimentary baby cots are available on request, although note that only one extra rollaway bed is allowed per room.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
