EnquirePimalai is a luxurious modern resort nestled in a tropical forest on the island of Koh Lanta Yai in Thailand's southwestern Krabi Province. This top-notch but laid-back beachside resort overlooks the glistening Andaman Sea and has a particularly peaceful atmosphere thanks to its secluded location away from more crowded tourist spots.
There are a total of 121 rooms, suites and villas spread across more than 100 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. All rooms offer both comfort and space, as well as picturesque views of either the ocean or the resort’s verdant tropical surroundings. All rooms are air conditioned and have a private balcony complete with overhead fan. Some of the amenities common to all rooms include tea and coffee making facilities, a minibar, a bathrobe and slippers, a TV with a DVD player and a hairdryer. Bathrooms come with both a bathtub and a walk-in shower. All accommodation is decidedly contemporary and rooms are decorated in a modern Thai style, with features such as bamboo blinds, local silks, wooden furniture and teak floors adding a genuine sense of character despite the hotel’s considerable size.
There are plenty of on-site facilities, including two large infinity pools surrounded by sun loungers and an inviting spa. Guests staying here have private access to a quiet 900 metre stretch of the Ba Kan Tiang beach. There’s a range of beach activities from bodyboarding and kayaking, to beach volleyball and snorkelling. Elephant safaris and waterfall treks can also be arranged, along with shopping tours and sunset cruises to the nearby Koh Haa islands. Back at the resort itself, there’s a library and a fully-equipped sports centre with a running track, two tennis courts, a half-basketball court, a ping pong table, bicycles to hire and more.
A total of three restaurants and one poolside cafe are open to guests at Pimalai. Spice and Rice offers buffet-style breakfasts and a range of signature Thai dishes for lunch and dinner, while RAK Talay offers lighter beachside dining and freshly caught seafood. The Banyan Tree Poolside Cafe offers refreshing drinks and snacks, while Seven Seas is the place to go for fine western cuisine.
Pimalai welcomes children of all ages, though there are a few areas of the resort that are only suitable for those over the age of 12. Note that some of the Hillside Villas are situated some 60 to 80 metres above sea level with unguarded pools and no interconnecting rooms, so vigilant parental supervision is required. However, many of the rooms have an extra sofa bed and there is general flexibility for families, along with plenty to do both at the resort and in the surrounding area. Babysitting is also available, though note that a full day’s notice is required.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
