Overview

Rachamankha is a well-presented boutique resort lying within Chiang Mai’s old town walls in northern Thailand. Featuring distinctive Thai architecture and lovely gardens with a pool and tranquil courtyards lined with colonnades, the property provides a serene and characterful retreat away from the frenetic hustle and bustle of the city.

The accommodation comprises 23 deluxe and superior bedrooms and two suites, all with a good range of amenities including TV with DVD player, air conditioning and complimentary designer toiletries. Rooms and communal areas are handsomely decorated and furnished with antiques and objets d’art from a variety of time periods and places, including Africa, Europe, China and, of course, Thailand.

Though Chiang Mai’s thriving old town is right on the doorstep, there’s plenty to do at the hotel as well. Rachamanka houses a collection of over 2,000 books, including novels and informative books detailing the rich art, history, culture and architecture of Thailand. Refreshments are available in the library which provides a relaxing space for anyone wishing to unwind with a good book. There’s an open-air massage pavilion overlooking the 20 metre pool, and in-room massages can be arranged on request. Drinks and snacks are served all day at the poolside, and the hotel’s restaurant specialises in traditional Thai cuisine and offers both indoor and al fresco dining, along with a great choice of fine wines.

Chiang Mai was founded centuries ago in 1296 and remains to this day an amazing place to explore. Just a stone’s throw away is one of the city’s best-known temples, Wat Phra Singh. There are lots of other temples and monuments of historical and cultural importance in the vicinity, not to mention plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes. The city is the second largest in Thailand and is decidedly rich in heritage, tradition and character, with a vibrant arts scene. Available in and around the city are all sorts of exciting adventure activities from elephant trekking and mountain biking, to hiking and quad biking.

While Rachamanka has a ‘grown up’ feel and families with children under 13 are unable to stay, children aged 13 and above are more than welcome, with extra beds available on request.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
