EnquireLisu Lodge is an eco-friendly lodge nestled in the mountains of northern Thailand about an hour and a half’s drive north of Chiang Mai. It’s named after a local tribe that lives nearby and offers a much more authentic and genuine experience than other places to stay in the area. Developed as part of a community project, the lodge offers guests the chance to get to know the local villagers and their way of life, with an exciting range of trips, activities and experiences available.
All four of the guesthouses are designed to be eco-friendly. They’re built in a traditional way and resemble the village huts seen nearby since they’re fashioned with wood and bamboo, though they’re outfitted with modern conveniences to make guests comfortable. There are 20 guest rooms and two studio rooms across the four guesthouses, each of which has captivating views of the lush natural scenery of the Thai countryside. Amenities such as complimentary bottled water, a ceiling fan and complimentary toiletries are provided. All guest rooms have an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Guest rooms are very modest and although rooms are comfortable, you should not expect luxury. Rooms are cooled by fans (there is no air conditioning).
Meals are freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients. The specialty here is Thai cuisine, with guests able to sample a range of local and national delicacies. Aside from the restaurant, the lodge doesn’t offer much in the way of facilities - the emphasis is more on exploring the surrounding area and taking part in the many activities that are available, including mountain biking, rafting, hiking, birdwatching, trips to the waterfall, cooking classes and visits to the fields where various crops are cultivated. Children are welcome here, though for trekking programmes there’s a minimum age limit of 10 years old and cycling activities are suitable for over 9s.
One of the key perks of staying at Lisu Lodge is the immersion into the local culture that few other places offer. Guests staying here aren’t treated as mere hotel guests, but as members of the local community. They’re encouraged to get involved and enjoy new sorts of experiences that benefit both themselves and the wider community. It’s a great way to learn about a different way of life and much more rewarding than staying in an average hotel.

Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
