Beginning in Marrakech, you will spend three days based in a boutique riad in a central location in the medina. From here, you can explore the souks, visit the local sights and take an excursion to the colourful and exotic Majorelle Gardens. The highlight of a stay for many is an evening visit to the main square, the Djemma el Fna. Once dusk falls, storytellers, jugglers, street entertainers, snake charmers and musicians all gather to perform. It is a sight to behold. If you are visiting the in summer months, then there is a water park in the Palmery, which can be a fun antidote to the sight seeing.
After a few days in Marrakech, we will then take you out to the Atlas Mountains, where you will be based in a boutique guest house in the village of Imlil. You will have a guide at your disposal for the next two days. Your exact activities depend on your family and your preferences, but we suggest that you spend the first day out walking in the Mountains with your guide. We will provide a mule and riding hats, so that if your children are tired they can ride instead of walk. Depending on your preferences, you may explore some of the local villages, or climb up to one of the passes for far-reaching views. All options will include a Berber picnic, enjoyed in a beautiful location. Your second day can be a repeat of the first with more walking, or you can go mountain biking for a day with your guide. Again, the intensity and exact itinerary will depend on your preferences. All of your options in the Mountains will be with your own private guide, so that you can all enjoy your family adventure together.
DAY 1: ARRIVE - TRANSFER TO MARRAKECH
You will be picked up at the airport and transferred to Marrakech.
DAY 2: MARRAKECH
Once you have settled into your riad, we suggest you set off and explore Marrakech's medina. You can spend all afternoon exploring the souks and taking in the atmosphere or you could relax on the roof terrace on one of the sun loungers. In the evening, be sure to head down to the main square where food stalls, acrobats, snake charmers and story tellers congregate creating an unforgettable atmosphere which is compelling for adults and children alike.
DAY 3: MARRAKECH
Today you might want to see some of the main cultural sights of Marrakech, including the Medersa Ben Youssef, Palais el Badi and the Bahia Palace, interspersed with a leisurely lunch watching the storks nesting on the ramparts of the ancient city or perhaps some people watching at a cafe in the Spice market. In the evening, you might want to enjoy dinner in one of the restaurants over-looking the main square, or perhaps ask your host to book you a table at the atmospheric Foundouk restaurant, serving up delicious French & Moroccan fusion food.
DAY 4: MARRAKECH
Today you might want to catch a petit taxi out to the Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens are beautifully laid out and offer a welcome respite to the chaos of the medina. (There is also a lovely cafe there) In the afternoon, you might want to take it easy and see the ramparts from the comfort of a caleche (horse and cart.) Alternatively, especially good for the summer months, there is an excellent water park in the Marrakech Palmeraie. In the evening, you might want to go back to the Djemaa el Fna, or perhaps head to the new town for some more Western cuisine.
DAY 5: TRANSFER TO ATLAS MOUNTAINS.
You will be picked up from Marrakech and transferred to the small town of Imlil in the Atlas Mountains. Relax this afternoon with stunning views and perhaps explore the narrow lanes of Imlil village.
DAY 6: ATLAS MOUNTAINS - GUIDED WALK
Imlil is the trail-head for a number of superb long distance routes up to Toubkal (the highest peak in North Africa) and the surrounding valleys and there are several fantastic day walk options. You will meet with your English speaking guide this morning who will suggest a walking route, based on your requirements and fitness levels. This could vary from a gentle stroll through the villages to a more challenging hike up to a pass. Our team will prepare a Berber picnic on the trail and a mule will be provided for the children to ride.
DAY 7: ATLAS MOUNTAINS - GUIDED WALK
Today you have the choice of enjoying another day walk along the beautiful trails surrounding Imlil.
DAY 8: TRANSFER TO AIRPORT - DEPART

We advise that flights will usually cost from around £200 per person during summer holidays. Prices tend to rise above £300pp if booking for a school holiday period and leaving it late.
This trip can be enjoyed throughout the year. The winter months in the mountains are usually fine as you will be trekking below the snow-line, it tends to be mild during the day, but the evenings are cold. The same applies for Marrakech, where you can expect warm days, but chilly evenings.
Summer time temperatures in Marrakech can reach the mid 40's, but it is more bearable in the mountains. All accommodation that we use is air-conditioned and at this time of year we usually use riads that are equipped with a plunge pool.

We had a great family holiday and many thanks to Tourdust for being instrumental in us achieving this.
The Atlas Mountains were spectacular, Marrakesh such a buzzing place and the camp in the desert amazing. The guides were all very professional and looked after us very well, the staff at Riad Tzarra and the Scarabeo camp very attentive and nice and we loved the different tagines we kept being presented throughout the week.

Huge thanks to you all for a most fantastic trip to Morocco last week. It is very difficult to single individuals out without missing those who should be mentioned, but everyone we met on the trek and in the hotel, the gites in the mountains and on the transfers was kind, helpful and supportive.
Mohamed is a star as was our guide Lashen, and as for Ali and Ibrahim, a career in comedy awaits! (and apologies to any of the others we have forgotten to mention too)
