What marks this Masai Mara safari out is the superb opportunities to observe the big cat population in the Masai Mara alongside superb accommodation and genuine interaction with the local landscape and people. The big cat population in the Masai Mara is second to none with strong lion, cheetah and leopard populations both in the park and in the private conservancies used in this safari. Night drives in the private conservancies will give superb chances of seeing these incredible animals in when they are most active. This safari includes bush walks with the local Maasai and night game drives within the private conservancies. Not to be underestimated when you acknowledge that most Kenyan safaris focus solely on the big reserves which give no opportunity to get out of the safari vehicle and connect with the land and people.
Striking a balance is critical on safari, and having a haven to relax between game drives should never be underestimated. The two award winning camps used on this safari are set in private conservancies and are renowned as some of the best in Africa. Great food, house wines and beer, soft drinks and scenic sundowners are all included in the price.
Day 1
Depart Nairobi at 10 am for the one hour flight to the Mara. You'll be met at the Siana airstrip by Mara Porini staff and transferred to camp. Settle into your tent and enjoy lunch prepared by the camp chef. Afternoon game drive in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, followed by a sundowner at a scenic spot. Return to camp for a shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Awake to the natural sounds of the Mara's birdlife. After an early breakfast, go on a morning walk in the Conservancy escorted by Maasai warriors and a guide, returning to camp later in the morning. In the afternoon you will go on a game drive to explore more of the Ol Kinyei Conservancy on the lookout for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, plains game and the big cats, followed by a night game drive after dinner to search for nocturnal animals including the elusive leopards which are resident in Ol Kinyei.
Day 3
After breakfast leave camp and spend the day game-viewing in the famous Masai Mara Reserve with a picnic lunch in the park and then moving on to Porini Lion Camp arriving in the late afternoon.
Day 4
Morning and afternoon game drives in the exclusive Olare Orok Conservancy, away from the minibuses and tourist vehicles seen in the park, and with an excellent chance of sighting lions, cheetahs and leopards all of which are found in the conservancy. Sundowner and night game drive. Overnight Porini Lion Camp.
Day 5
*Optional Balloon Safari and Champagne Breakfast.
Final early morning game drive in the Olare Orok Conservancy followed by breakfast and then drive into the park to the Ol Kiombo airstrip to fly back on the 11 a.m. flight to Wilson Airport in Nairobi, arriving at around 12.05 pm. Or take the option of a further night at Porini Lion Camp with game drives in the Olare Orok conservancy or the Masai Mara Reserve.
Kenya has international airports in Nairobi (Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta NBO) and Mombassa (Mombasa Moi International MBA) which are around 8 hours flying time from the UK. Virgin Atlantic, British Airways and Air Kenya fly regular direct services to Nairobi. Return tickets usually range from £450 to £750 depending on when you are travelling. If you are willing to put up with the inconvenience then cheaper tickets can usually be purchased with a stop from Qatar Airways, Ethiopian and Emirates.
Nairobi Jomo Kenyatta airport is a ½ hr 16km drive from Nairobi City Centre, but traffic is often very bad.
This tour includes pick up and drop off in Nairobi.
PRICES include return flights from Nairobi to Maasai Mara, 2 nights Mara Porini Camp, 2 nights Porini Lion Camp, park fees and conservancy fees included. All game drives in open 4x4 vehicles, night game drives, bush walks, sundowners, full board, mineral water, house wines, beer and soft drinks.
Children (8-16years) each pay 60% if sharing with 2 adults; If sharing with 1 adult the adult pays single supp and child pays 60%; 2 children in own tent 75% of adult rate each; 4th child in tent is strongly discouraged due to limited space in tent and shower/toilet facilities. If you have children, please contact us for a detailed quote.
This isn’t going to appeal to those focussed solely on budget, but does actually offer some of the best value for money in Kenya. There are few other safaris offering this level of comfort and indulgence and quality of wildlife guiding in this price range. It is perfect for those willing to spend a little more for a very special safari experience.
The camps are suitable for families, but there is a minimum age of 8 yrs old. Discounts of the advertised rate are available for children, contact us for details.

We had a great time - even with the flight between Governors and the coast being two flights and a car! We also experienced a power cut At Nairobi airport on the way home so 2+ hours late taking off. Governors. Wonderful people and dealt with the flight delay very well - taking us back and letting us know that we could stay there if the flight was delayed overnight. The game drives were excellent and our guide (Erick) obviously very experienced and managed to find all the key animals - no rhino in that part of the Masai Mara but everything else in abundance - never seen so many herbivores (many many elephants as well as all the others) as well as two prides of lions. Could not have asked for more. The ‘tent’ was excellent and comfortable and well serviced. The only ‘complaint’ would be that the food - especially dinner - could be improved (I think we got a bit bored of soup as a starter for every meal bar one) and the main courses were not at the same level as Kinondo Kwetu and while all were explained there was no choice offered. The breakfasts were just what was needed after an early game drive. Kinondo Kwetu. What a great location and the welcome when we arrived at just gone 11.00pm was better than you could have ever thought possible - they we’re disappointed that we did not at that time want the full dinner experience! The rooms we’re comfortable. The food was excellent but again no choice was offered - other than for allergy reasons (which we do not have). May be some choice would be nice. Having said that the food we did have was excellent as were the wines (albeit a short list!) and other drinks. There were (as you know) lots of facilities/sports options - but we spent our time relaxing which was exactly what we needed and there were lots of places to do that. Overall. We would go back to both places - perhaps a few more nights at Kinondo Kwetu next time but 3 nights at Governors was perfect for us. Thank you for organising and recommending both places. That you and your colleague for trying to find out about the plane (flat tyre) but communication by the flight company left a lot to be desired (Governors were furious that they were not told and had taken us to the airstrip). We had the most incredible time thank you. We loved Karen Blixen camp and felt part of a family there, it was incredibly special. And Breezes was very relaxing.
We can't fault all the transfers and the moment we were greeted on the tarmac at Nairobi airport we knew we were going to be well cared for.Thank you so much to you and all the Tourdust team for making it such a happy and memorable trip.

We had an amazing trip. Everything was well thought out and so much fun. What a great way to truly see the country and learn the culture.
Joseph was the perfect guide. Very kind, professional, knowledgeable and patient. The kids loved Joseph and keep asking when will they meet him again. He found the Big 5 for us which was unforgettable! Please pass along our appreciation to Joseph.
Maji Moto was also another incredible experience. They had great customer service and we loved experiencing their culture.
Sunbird was absolutely beautiful and I wish we had more time there. We loved the view of the lake!
One suggestion to make the trip even better for other guests in the future would be to have a cooler with drinks and snacks in the Jeep at all times because a ton of driving is involved and it would be helpful to have a cold drink and snacks during the long trip.
Thanks again for organizing this experience of a lifetime for us!
