This morning you will have a cooking class at the world famous Maison Arabe. Your cookery class will start with an introduction to Moroccan cuisine and the part it plays in society. Your teacher will talk you through the various spices and ingredients traditionally used and will also explain how different dishes are prepared. Depending on your location - some of the classes are in the medina some are just outside of Marrakech - you may visit a local spice shop to taste and smell the different spices used in traditional and modern kitchens across Morocco.
Back in the kitchen, all of the ingredients will have been laid out for you. Every participant is given an apron, utensils and ingredients to use and the cookery teacher stands at the head of the table demonstrating how to prepare and cook the meal. The atmosphere is informal and participants are encouraged to ask as many questions as they like. Cooking will last about an hour after which the class sits down to together to enjoy the meals they have all just created.
What you actually cook on the day can vary, usually the first people to book on to a workshop decide on the dish for the group to cook.
In the afternoon, you might want to catch a petit taxi out to the Majorelle Gardens, designed by Yves Saint Laurent. The gardens are beautifully laid out and offer a welcome respite to the chaos of the medina. (There is also a lovely cafe there)

DAY 7: AGAFAY DESERT TREK
This morning you will be picked up after breakfast and transferred out to the Agafay Desert. Don’t be misled by its name, this is not a Saharan-style sandy desert; it is more of a barren, deserted plateau. Stretching for miles, this semi-lunar terrain is unforgiving in the summer months, but in the cooler seasons it provides a breath-taking environment, one that is often over-looked by those wanting to shuttle between the Atlas Mountains and Marrakech. Local villages have been driven out by the lack of water, so, apart from some local shepherds and the odd 4x4, the area is free for exploration and makes a fantastic camel trekking or hiking destination. The snow-capped Atlas Mountains form a stunning backdrop and walking on the seemingly endless plateau is easy going. Following small river gorges and walking up the small hills is very pleasurable and accessible, with constant rewards of far-reaching views. You will be based at the luxury La Pause, whose resident camels are perfect for a short camel trek.
Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner
Accommodation: La Pause

This treking possible any time of year. From November to April, the mountain-tops are covered in snow, but you will be walking below the snow line, so this shouldn't cause any trouble. The bonus of course is that the mountains look stunning with snow atop the peaks.
The summer months are too hot for the Agafay desert trek. Spring and Autumn are arguably the best time of year, with wild flowers in spring and stunning vibrant red Walnut groves in late autumn.
The treks are accessible to anybody of any level of fitness. We can accommodate those who would rather just do a spot of light sight-seeing as well as those who would like to tackle something a little more strenuous. Please discuss your requirements with your guide.
Marrakech is an intoxicating city which delights all of your senses. Away from the main square, the medina is made up of many small winding streets, or derbs. Everyone, without exception, gets lost when they visit Marrakech, The best way to deal with this is to relax, embrace the experience and take a mobile phone with you so that you can call you riad if you get lost.
Your camel trek in the Agafay desert can be a combination of riding on camels and walking, depending on your comfort. The tents all have their own beds and simple en-suite facilities, so you can expect a good degree of comfort.

We had a fabulous time! It was the first time we had done a family holiday like this, with such a variety of experiences. The outgoing flight was less than 3 hours yet it was like another world.
Lesley C reviewing Day treks, Camels & Boutique Marrakech on 11 January 2014
Our trekking guide was great, walked at our pace, and taught us a lot about the mountains, we met his family while sheltering from the rain and had tea and cakes.
The accomodation at both Riad Tzarra and the Kasbar near Ilmil were great, staff could not be more helpful, or kind. The only thing we might have asked is that as we were the only guests in Riad Tzarra that after the initial welcoming from the Manager of Riad Da Hanne - was that she had come back during our dinner in the evening just to answer a couple of questions we had (but i think that was due to our actual manager being on holiday).
Food was delicious in both accomodations particulalry at the Berber Guest House. We even asked for a recipe for some of the food to take home with us.Would definately go away with tourdust again and will reccomend to friends (as it was recommended to us via a friend).
It provided us with a really interesting authentic experience, with the ease of a tour without feeling like you were on a tour. All taxis and guides and arrangements were perfectly on time and perfectly suited to what we wanted. It allowed us to fit so much into a short stay.

We had a great time thanks, the guide was excellent as was the lunch in the mountains, really good.
The only downside was that unfortunately my wife, who'd been so keen and excited to go, got a stomach bug the Sunday night so wasn't able to come on the trip on Monday. A real shame but otherwise a big success.
