EnquireAn interrupted view of the Bushman’s River and its surrounding grassy plains is but one of the attractions at Sarili Lodge. This family-exclusive experience offers first-class explorations into the Shamwari Game Reserve with premium comfort and, above all, lots of fun for the whole family.
Guest accommodation consists of two Luxury rooms with private balconies overlooking the river, two Luxury courtyard-facing rooms with an inter-leading passageway, and one Suite with a private balcony and river view. Each room has en-suite facilities and is more than suitable for families with older children.
Sarili Lodge is just one of many sister lodges in the Shamwari Game Reserve. Like its sister lodges, it offers incredible opportunities to get close to and explore the surrounding wildlife. The Shamwari area is malaria-free, and has many green initiatives and animals that roam free around it, offering guests a great opportunity to experience the wildlife organically.
The lodge has a designated children’s coordinator who plans social, sporting, arts, and cultural activities. In addition to an array of indoor activities, such as board games and scrapbooks, there are a number of outdoor activities, many of which aim to educate the children about the wildlife and efforts to preserve it.
Game Drives are one of the best ways to explore the surrounding plains, and one the family can do together. On these, guests can expect to spot elephants, giraffe, hippo, buffalo, zebra, lion, wildebeest, antelope, and hyena, with chance to also see White and Black Rhino, leopard, cheetah, and wild dog. But there is also the opportunity for the whole family to learn more about the area and local conservation efforts at the Rhino Awareness Centre, Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, and Born Free Big Cat Rescue Centre, some of an array of resident efforts to prevent poaching and conserve dwindling game populations.
Whilst children of all ages are welcome, children under the age of 12 must be accompanied to the conservation centres, and no children under the age of four are permitted to join game drives.
Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
