Overview

Fancourt is a renowned golf resort in the town of George, in the heart of the Garden Route, on South Africa’s Western Cape. This extensive property sits amidst 613 hectares of country estate, framed by the stunning Outeniqua Mountains. The hotel and manor house offer 133 rooms and suites along with several restaurants, four swimming pools, a spa, tennis courts, and three world class golf courses. Fancourt will appeal to higher budget travellers seeking exclusive accommodation along with comprehensive onsite facilities.

Communal areas include four eateries, each with a smart/casual dress code. Henry Whites is a sophisticated, fine dining restaurant, whilst La Cantina offers generous breakfast buffets and Mediterranean cuisine in an informal setting. Monet’s café bistro serves light meals and refreshments with a choice of indoor and alfresco seating. The Club lounge and bar overlooks the golf course, serving hearty American style cuisine. There are four swimming pools onsite, including a large outdoor pool with a Jacuzzi, a children’s pool, and an indoor heated pool. An award winning spa boasts a sauna, steam room, roman baths and a Jacuzzi. Also onsite are four tennis courts, including two floodlit, a gym, and three 18-hole golf courses. The Manor House has its own outdoor pool, along with a bar, library, and tea lounge.

Activities include golf, tennis, and catch and release fishing, with complimentary tackle and rods provided. Fancourt’s network of trails and nearby Witfontein Nature Reserve offer excellent hiking and running, with mountain bike hire available for exploring further afield. The iconic Garden Route boasts glorious coastal and mountain scenery, along with winelands tours, canoeing, whale watching, and horse riding. Also nearby are the popular seaside towns of Knysna and Plettenberg Bay which offer an array of markets, shops and eateries.

The accommodation comprises 115 rooms and suites in the main hotel and 18 suites in the Manor House. Rooms comprise a king or twin beds, and a smart ensuite bathroom. The generous suites include one or two bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a relaxing lounge, plus a spacious dining area in the larger two bed units. The Manor House offers 17 double or twin bed suites, and one extensive two bed unit, all complete with butler service. All rooms and suites come with satellite TV, a minibar, hot drink facilities, air conditioning, and complimentary Wi-Fi. Each has a balcony or terrace with tranquil views of the golf course, the gardens, or the distant mountains.

Children of all ages are warmly welcome at Fancourt. Interconnecting rooms are available, and the two bed suites offer generous living space, ideal for families. The resort operates a daily kids club, with activities including arts and crafts, games, nature walks, a jungle gym, and a baby pool. For older children there is a dedicated teen lounge with gaming facilities, table tennis, pool, and football (pls note that this lounge is unsupervised).

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
