EnquireLoldia House is a traditional farmhouse found nestled within a large, private ranch in a supremely tranquil spot on Lake Naivasha’s shore in southwestern Kenya. A beautiful sanctuary from which to explore the Rift Valley, and only a two hour drive from Nairobi, Loldia provides a relaxed and unpretentious base at the beginning or end of a safari. Opportunities to see zebra, giraffe, rhino, and water buffalo abound, and the enormous flocks of flamingos create an awesome spectacle.
This colonial property boasts charming interiors and unrivalled views from the spacious and cool stone veranda. A large lounge with sofas surrounding an open fire is a cosy feature of this beautifully restored, authentic retreat. The service is superb, and evening meals around the communal table make for an intimate dining experience. Breakfast and lunch are served under a fig tree in the garden to maximise enjoyment of the pretty gardens and the lake beyond. Farm and wild animals wander freely around, and wild hippos can often be seen lolling on the waterfront.
There are four rooms within the farmhouse itself, and a further seven split across three nearby cottages. The main house is furnished in the original colonial settlers style, with cream walls and exposed beams. Nearest to the main building, the original Guest Cottage houses two rooms amidst the lush gardens. Further down on the lake shore sits a new-build with two independent suites, perfect for honeymooners, and with spectacular views across the lake to the extinct volcano Mt. Longonot. All rooms have ensuite bathrooms, complete with bathtub. For larger groups of friends, or families, Loldia Cottage is located up on the hillside and consists of three double rooms, a private sitting room with open log fire, and breath-taking panoramic views across the lake.
Loldia House is ideally positioned to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty. Activities include exploring the farm itself, and enjoying boat excursions on Lake Naivasha. Exhilarating day trips to Lake Nakuru, Longont, and Hell’s Gate National Parks are possible, with some fabulous birdlife and game viewing on offer. Day and night game drives are also offered, with potential leopard sightings a particular draw. Visits to an 18-hole golf course can also be arranged.
Children of all ages are welcome, and with plenty of activities and lovely gardens to explore, Loldia is a great base for nature loving families. While it’s highly unlikely that wildlife will approach humans, note that the lake is unfenced and the animals free to roam, so parental supervision is essential at all times.
Loldia House provides pristine and characterful accommodation coupled with excellent hosting and a good variety of activities in a delightful setting.
We had an amazing trip. Everything was well thought out and so much fun. What a great way to truly see the country and learn the culture.
Joseph was the perfect guide. Very kind, professional, knowledgeable and patient. The kids loved Joseph and keep asking when will they meet him again. He found the Big 5 for us which was unforgettable! Please pass along our appreciation to Joseph.
Maji Moto was also another incredible experience. They had great customer service and we loved experiencing their culture.
Sunbird was absolutely beautiful and I wish we had more time there. We loved the view of the lake!
One suggestion to make the trip even better for other guests in the future would be to have a cooler with drinks and snacks in the Jeep at all times because a ton of driving is involved and it would be helpful to have a cold drink and snacks during the long trip.
Thanks again for organizing this experience of a lifetime for us!

We had an amazing time thank you. The itinerary was great as we felt like we saw lots of different things and it kept it interesting for our daughter. She especially loved the gorge at Hells Gate.
Unfortunately the Menengai Crater walk was a bit hard for her although that probably had something to do with how hot it was!
We especially loved the Sunbird Lodge - it is such a beautiful place and all the staff were so incredibly welcoming and friendly.
Our guide, Joseph, was exceptional too and we can’t speak highly enough of him.

The trip was amazing everything was better than we could have imagined.
There was a moment climbing the mount Kenya where my wife accused me of tricking her into doing this (half kidding) as some of the nights got pretty cold, but we were dressed well and the sunrise at the peak was astonishing.
Safari was spectacular, Ben who was our main guide and driver was awesome! We saw everything excepts rhinos which were more of a hope than a reality. We also were able to watch a rock python eat a Thompson gazel live. It was one of the most interesting and unsettling things I have ever seen.
Just overall, so many moments that make you think wow or I can't believe I am here. Thank you for your help in getting everything set up. I don't believe I could have booked the trip without your help and guidance. It was an amazing way to start our marriage and truly the trip of a lifetime!
