Overview

Arathusa Safari Lodge is a good value option in a prime Sabi Sands location with superb wildlife viewing. Although not as intimate or chic as some options in Sabi Sands, the infinity pool, on site watering hole, prime location and good value make this a superb choice.

Arathusa Safari Lodge is situated within the northern sector of the renowned Sabi Sand Reserve, adjacent to Kruger National Park. The lodge has the benefit of a large waterhole with a resident hippo pod providing a significant benefit of interesting game and bird viewing between game drives.

There are twelve suites available - 8 Suites are centrally located and offer views across the waterhole whilst 4 Suites have a more private bush setting and include their own plunge pools. Each room has an en-suite bathroom, with a bath and shower – as well as an outdoor shower and a verandah offering relaxing views of the surrounding veld. All rooms can be arranged in double or twin configurations.

The main lodge area includes a comfortable living area, infinity pool, dining boma and safari spa. Breakfast is a fresh continental affair or a hot breakfast to order and lunch is kept light and healthy. Freshly baked cakes, tarts and fruit are served at High Tea prior to your afternoon game drive

Sundowners are served during your afternoon drive (the drinks are extra). Evening meals are served in a different location each evening with meals varying from traditional South African potjie to sumptuous 4 course affairs.

Early morning and late afternoon game drives are in open safari vehicles with experienced rangers and local trackers. Sabi Sands is renowned for its wildlife viewing with a significant big five presence. Guided walks with an armed ranger can also be arranged. Large herds of buffalo are often seen at the waterhole in front of the lodge. Arathusa has a reputation for leopard sightings with approximately 14 leopards seen in the area in which Arathusa operate, six of which are seen on a regular basis. There are various lion prides in the area and General “lowveld” game species are abundant in this section of the Sabi Sand Reserve, including giraffe, zebra, warthog, impala and more.

Unfortunately, no children under the age of 12 are permitted at Arathusa Safari Lodge and children over 12 are charged at the full adult rate.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
