Overview

Mosaic Farm is on a private 1000 hectare nature reserve and 3 kilometres of lagoon in Stanford, about 40 kilometres from its more well-known counterpart, Hermanus. The lovingly restored historical homestead overlooks the Hermanus lagoon and Overberg Mountains and houses the café, dining room, lounge, library, wine cellar and tasting room.

There are two accommodation choices, the luxurious Lagoon Lodge which has only 5 safari-style stone, glass and thatch suites opening onto a private deck with mountain views. Rooms are tastefully furnished with king bed, sitting area, desk, fireplace and ceiling fan. The ensuite is a real treat with large tub, copper sink and outdoor shower. The main area has a dining area, lounge with fireplace and heating plunge pool overlooking the mountains.

Alternatively there are 4 charming cottages each with fully equipped kitchen, fireplace, outdoor patio, barbeque area, luxury bedding and towels and are serviced daily. Milkwood cottage 1 is a studio cottage with double bed and sleeper couch for one child. Milkwood cottage 2 is two bedroomed, one double room with sofa bed and the other double with single bed, all ensuite. Milkwood cottage 3 has two bedrooms, one double, second double with trundle bed in anti-room and in the living room two sofa beds. The Duminy cottage has one double room, one twin room and a loft with five twin beds, all ensuite. The cottage are next to the Lagoon Café which can supply breakfast baskets, gourmet picnic baskets, dinner dishes, barbeque platters, home baked good, preserves, and organic veggies.

The real charm of this property is the number of activities on offer. Excursions to private beach which is only accessible by 4x4 vehicle. Guided Fynbos walking tour to explore the 8600 plant species occurring in this area. Coastal walk to explore the Klipgat Archeological Cave a Stone Age excavation site. Boat cruise on the Hermanus lagoon directly from the lodge on the ‘Spirit of Agnes’. The calm lagoon is a perfect spot for sea kayaking. Whale watching between June to November to see the Southern Right Whale migration boat trip for scenic flight! When staying a Lagoon Lodge some of these are included and when at the cottages there is a supplementary charge.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
