Overview

Oue Werf is a beautiful authentic farm guesthouse that has been in the same family for 6 generations, tracing its routes back to 1857. There is a lovely rural atmosphere, with open agricultural and mountain scenery, relaxed gardens and traditional Cape Dutch architecture. Oue Werf is set in a small hamlet 12 km from Oudtshoorn and 15 km from the Cango Caves.

Within the gardens, in addition to the requisite ostrich, there is a basic salt water swimming pool, damn, farm shop and café. A hearty farm breakfast is served either on the patio overlooking the picturesque mountain views or in the dining room. Home cooked country dinners are available, or you can braai (the guesthouse provides the bbq and fuel, you provide the food). There are also several cracking restaurants in Oudtshoorn itself.

Oue Werf has 8 rooms in the garden, each with its own private entrance and small terrace. All rooms have an air-conditioning / heater unit and are en-suite (some only have showers, some have bath and showers). There are 5 further rooms in the manor house.

For Families: With plenty of space, relaxed gardens, swimming pool and small play-ground attached to the farm shop, Oue Werf is an excellent option for families. Families can choose adjoining rooms, or a family room sleeps five in an adjoining double and triple room with own private entrance. This is a characterful family run guesthouse and parents should warn their children against the home-made tower and zip-wire running over the damn.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
