Overview

Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge is an independently-owned hilltop retreat in the Savuti area of Chobe National Park, northern Botswana. This region boasts prolific birdlife and excellent game viewing, with high numbers of elephant, lion, leopard, zebra, and wild dog, plus giraffe, buffalo and cheetah. Both self-drive and fly-in arrival options are possible, with transfers available from the Savuti airstrip, approximately one hour away.

Guest areas at Ghoha Hills include a swimming pool and boma with nightly campfire. The thatched main building offers panoramic views of the vast Ghoha Plains and comprises dining and lounge areas, library, bar, and gift shop. A lovely viewing deck overlooks a natural waterhole popular with birds and wildlife, particularly elephants. Mealtimes are relaxed and take place either indoors or around the campfire. Hearty, African-inspired cuisine is served at both communal and individual tables, and dietary requirements can be accommodated. The lodge relies on solar power throughout, with Wi-Fi and electric charging points available in the main area.

Ghoha Hills offers both full and half-day game drives, bird watching, and excursions to view San Bushmen rock art. Although the Savuti Marsh area is prone to vehicle congestion in the busy June/October dry season, full day safaris to this stunning destination with its exceptional concentration of wildlife are a real highlight. Guests generally share vehicles for game drives, although private transport can be organised at additional cost.

The lodge accommodates up to 26 guests in nine spacious and well-appointed canvas tents, each sleeping two, plus two family units. Each tent has a private deck with outdoor seating to maximise enjoyment of the spectacular views. All units are en suite, with showers, basin and flush toilet, plus wardrobe and luggage rack, table and armchairs, fans, mosquito nets and safe.

Children over five years are welcome, with reduced rates for under 12's. Two family suites are available, each sleeping two adults and two children in adjoining rooms with en-suite bathroom and dressing area. Although there is no child-specific program, little ones are welcome to participate in game drives. The camp is un-fenced, and wild animals do roam through, so even though the likelihood of animals approaching humans and tents is low, adult supervision is essential at all times, this property is not suggested for children under 6 years.

Ghoha Hills Savuti Lodge is ideal for travelers looking to combine the thrill of safari with a tranquil, comfortable base in a stunning location.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • Trip was great and all the arrangements were excellent so thank you for all the help!

Drivers and transfers were all good - on time and very good service on each trip.

Accommodation was lovely - Douar Samra was amazing (weather could have been better but lovely regardless). Riad in Marrakesh was also great!

All in all a great trip and we loved the variety of the mountains, Marrakesh and the coast.

    Thanks you once again!
