Overview

Ngala Tented Camp is an intimate ‘and beyond’ camp situated on a river in Timbavati private reserve, on the Western boundary of Kruger National Park. This is an extremely high quality property and its exclusivity and wonderful romantic atmosphere makes it a perfect base for couples.

The camp offers large communal areas with extensive decking from where wildlife can often be seen wandering down to the river to drink. An outdoor boma provides a sociable, outdoor dining experience and the food is of high quality. A contoured lap pool and outdoor massage area with fantastic views are perfect places to relax on your return to camp. The reserve has excellent year round sightings of the Big Five with wildlife roaming freely across Timbavati and Kruger thanks to the open boundaries. Game drives are held twice a day in the morning and evening along with walking safaris led by passionate and informed rangers.

The accommodation at Ngala is elegant and sophisticated. The 9 air conditioned canvas tents all have private verandahs and are beautifully furnished. Each tent is filled with character giving it a luxurious feel and has acres of space. Large gauze screen windows, ceiling fans and outdoor showers give you an authentic experience of being in the bush whilst an oversized bath that can be opened up to the world outside is a guaranteed highlight.

Children over the age of 12 are welcome at the camp. However, rooms are not suitable for more than two people so younger children are unable to share a room with their parents. Consequently, this camp is much better suited to families with older children especially as the age limit for walking safaris is 16. The camp does run a ‘Wildchild’ programme providing interactive activities for younger guests such as tracking, fishing or painting.

  • Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

  • It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

  • Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
