Overview

A serene and laidback island resort in the Maldives’ Baa Atoll, Soneva Fushi is situated on the island of Kunfunadhoo, which is among the largest in the Maldives, and can be reached from Male’s Velana International Airport by a quick and easy 30 minute seaplane transfer. This all-encompassing, eco-friendly island resort offers a multitude of activities, with guests free to do as much or as little as they wish. The villas come in nearly two dozen different categories, so parties of all sizes including families can be comfortably accommodated - the largest villa has a total of nine rooms. The villas are simple yet luxurious and all have gorgeous views, some even come with their own private pool.

There's a great deal to do in the resort and beyond. Open air movie screenings at the al fresco Cinema Paradiso are a must, as is paying a visit to the observatory to gaze up at the night sky through the state-of-the-art telescope. Book an indulgent spa treatment and unwind in blissful surroundings at the Six Senses Spa, or keep active by playing tennis, working out in the gym or doing laps of the jogging track. Those looking to see more of the Maldives can go on various day trips, including excursions to the capital city, Male, and island hopping expeditions. Guests are encouraged to discover the area’s stunning marine biodiversity for themselves, with snorkelling, scuba diving and free diving all available. While there's no communal pool, many of the villas have private pools and there are of course the azure waters of the Indian Ocean to make use of. Note that in keeping with the resort’s eco-friendly policies, access is restricted to only certain parts of the coastline so turtles can lay their eggs in peace.

As for dining, there are lots of different experiences available, including the option to have picnics or meals on the beach and a restaurant located on a nearby uninhabited island. Food is freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients and guests can enjoy both Maldivian dishes and international cuisine.

Soneva Fushi welcomes children of all ages and is very family friendly indeed. There’s a babysitting service available for an extra charge, as well as a complimentary kids club, The Den. Here, children of all ages can take part in all sorts of activities designed to get them to use their imaginations and learn more about the world around them - note that children under the age of four have to be supervised by an adult or babysitter. There’s a weekly programme of activities and entertainment, with parents welcome to join in.

  • We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths.

Will be a trip we remember forever

  • I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
