EnquireA Tourdust favourite, Amakhala Hillsnek is a simply gorgeous small camp set on a bluff overlooking the main section of Amakhala reserve. This is one of those places where everything comes together just so, with fresh contemporary and inviting décor and a wonderfully relaxed ambience. There are just three tents and the main pool / dining area all wrapped around the incredible wall-to-wall views.
Amakhala is a beautifully situated private reserve of around 7500 Ha neighbouring Shamwara East of Addo NP. The reserve was founded in 1999 as a joint conservation venture by local farmers and land owners, many of whose families descend back to the original frontier settlers five generations ago. Amakhala has a refreshingly progressive attitude to conservation and is a strong supporter of the local community. There are 11 small camps and lodges on the reserve in total and a well balanced wildlife population boasting all of the big 5.
The three tents are set on raised wooden decking and connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways. Tents have en-suite bathrooms, romantic outdoor showers, deep baths (with view) and stunning views across the African bush. The main lodge has an incredibly inviting open-plan, open-air lounge, bar and dining room overlooking the pool and bush views. Game drives are conducted in open sided 4wds.
For Families: With only three tents, each set discretely, Hillsnek is just as easily romantic hideaway as family destination. All tents sleep two adults plus two children (under 12). The family tent has two bedrooms sleeping 2 adults plus 2 children with the possibility to add a third younger child in the parents bedroom or a roll-away bed. The rates for a family of four are surprisingly good value for a camp of this quality.
Thank you, we had an absolute wonderful time, and everything was well-planned and as described. Carla was crying on the day of our departure from Ants Nest, she didn’t want to go home and for it all to end, and when I asked how much longer she would want to stay, she responded “four weeks”

It was certainly a holiday of a lifetime for us and we loved every minute!! The standard and location of each accommodation was excellent, as was the variety of each different accommodation type. Our schedule was perfect and we managed to achieve everything on our to-do task list. Your documents were also really helpful, as were the driving directions. We all thank you for making this such a wonderful holiday. Happy to leave a review publicly if you point me the right way. Best Steve

Hi Lisa, We had a fabulous time thank you. The accommodation and other ideation were all terrific - that’s so much for your help. The apartment in Cape Town was particularly good - we would never have found that: Boschendal was great as well and game lodge was superb. Thanks again, Alistair
