EnquireLeopard Trails offers an authentic and memorable safari camping experience in two different locations. One is in Wilpattu National Park, the largest and oldest national park in Sri Lanka, while the other is in Yala National Park, which is visited by more people than any other national park in the country. Both camps offer an elegant, bespoke safari holiday with strong wildlife viewing opportunities.
Both camps offer a selection of classic mobile tents and luxury tents, all of which come with air conditioning and fans. A range of convenient amenities is provided in all tents to make the stay comfortable. These include complimentary toiletries, bathrobes and slippers, fans, mosquito repellant, complimentary bottled water, electrical charging points and a private outdoor shower. Those who opt for the luxury tents will benefit from additional amenities such as an indoor shower, twin sinks and a wooden door, as opposed to the zip-up doors in the classic tents.
The cuisine at both camps is predominantly traditional Sri Lankan fare, with Asian and continental dishes served up as well. All of the food is freshly prepared using a range of locally sourced ingredients. Guests can enjoy their meals in the dining tent, or out in the open under the stars. When not on a game drive, guests can relax in the communal lounge tent with drinks or a book on wildlife from the library.
Activities naturally centre around game drives. Wilpattu National Park is known for its many lakes rimmed with sand, as well as its historical and archaeological significance - not to mention, of course, its abundant wildlife. All sorts of animals roam here, and sightings of barking deer, sloth and leopard are particularly popular. Yala National Park boasts a particularly high density of leopards and also has a high concentration of mugger crocodiles. The park is home to over 100 different bird species and is a very good place to spot Asian Elephants. Both camps offer the chance to see a diverse range of animals in their natural habitats.
Children are very welcome in both locations. We recommend that families opt for the luxury tents, as these offer more than twice as much space as the classic tents. As both campsites are set out in the open wilderness, parents should be sure to keep an eye on their young ones at all times.
We had an extraordinary time. It was magical and we couldn't hav asked or hoped for more. Thank you both so much for all of your time and assistance.

We had an amazing experience - absolutely loved it.
Mohamed and Said were great and very patient especially with me going downhill - was quite nervous about the scree slopes and paths. Will be a trip we remember forever

I would like to say a massive thank you for organising our Vietnam trip. The itinerary and execution were superb, as was the attention to detail. I would also like to thank the agent who was on the end of my whats app chat (I have no idea who they were!) – always available, always quick to respond, and kept me updated regarding times etc. Also, the guides Dan (north) and Tien (mid) were just excellent, and we really enjoyed their company. The lady (whose name I have forgotten) who was our additional guide for the DMZ day was exceedingly good and made that day very special.
