Overview

Agdz is the half-way point between the desert and Marrakech and the palm groves make for a worthwhile stop on the way back. Kasbah Azul is our favourite place to spend a couple of nights; this stylish guesthouse is set in a beautiful walled garden and has a heated swimming pool (please note, the pool is solar heated so may not be very warm if there has been little sun prior to arrival).

If you’re self-driving, the Kasbah is well signposted although you do have to follow a narrow, winding street in the East of the old town. This final approach, on a dusty road passing locals, mules and old mud-brick buildings only heightens the feeling of reaching a hidden oasis.

The Kasbah is run by Sylvie, a French artist and her husband Nasser. Sylvie’s artistic touch shows in the design of the rooms, all of which are have been individually designed with a twist on traditional Moroccan style, fresh bright colours are used and many of Sylvie’s pieces of art are on display.

There are only 7 bedrooms in total, this helps create an intimate, friendly atmosphere. There’s one suite which is perfect for families with younger children and this room has the option of interconnecting with a twin room making it the perfect option if parents prefer a separate bedroom, this also gives the luxury of having two bathrooms.

You could easily spend your time in the gardens and relaxing by the pool but it’s worth taking a leisurely stroll into the verdant palmeraie, exploring the nearby ruined Kasbah and popping into Agdz.

  • Thank you, Lisa! Our trip was wonderful even with the weather disruption. We loved seeing so many different parts of the country, meeting people and experiencing the culture. The desert was surely a highlight for our boys and the creativity and artisanship of everything from food to crafts were a highlight for me. A special shout out to our guide and driver, they became a special part of our trip and we will forever be grateful for meeting them and learning from them. I cannot believe we had to wait three years for this adventure but it was certainly worth the wait! Thanks for all your help building the itinerary, modifying it and troubleshooting during our stay. • Hi Lisa,

Sorry for the late reply - I blissfully didn’t check emails while we were away.

Well I must say - THANK YOU. That was a seamlessly organised, mind-blowing trip! It was everything we dreamed of and so much more.

The hotels, people and places were magical. We just loved every single moment of that totally epic adventure.

We will be back in touch when we are ready for our next one!

Thank you so much and well done for such a brilliantly organised trip.
